MEL SIMPSON DANCE

I'm passionate about cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary work; it's amazing to see all the brilliant dance, drama, visual art and music that's going on in Wandsworth! I choreographed and performed in 'Trunk; Dream of Elephants' (Imagination Festival) at the Battersea Arts Centre; 'Dive In' at Tooting Bec Lido and 'Usherettes' at Clapham Picturehouse, with Future Cinema / Secret Cinema. I also taught GCSE & A Level Dance at Harris Academy Battersea!

Mel Simpson (she/her) [BA hons; DBS], is an award winning choreographer, dance artist and education specialist, working internationally with contemporary & physical theatre companies, with actors and singers, on numerous large scale multimedia projects. CREDITS: Secret Cinema, Future Cinema, Shakespeare's Globe, The Place, Glastonbury, Latitude, BAC, Opera Holland Park, London Olympics 2012, 'We Dance For Life', Heart n Soul, Tempered Body, C-12 Dance Theatre, The Irrepressibles, Karen David, Katy Carr, Adam Donen, The Orchard, Turner Contemporary, RAA, Hoxton Hall. EDUCATION OUTREACH: MEL SIMPSON DANCE are a leading provider of high quality diverse dance curriculum workshops and CPD/INSET for hundreds of Schools/Colleges annually, UK-wide and Internationally IRL and live online. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Dance or Draw: Interdisciplinary inclusive improvised live performances, sparking audience creative responses! TRAINING: Laban, Bird College; Simonson Technique (NYC).

Our hire policy

I believe *every* young person should have equal access to the arts. Over the years, I have taught diverse dance workshops across numerous Primary and Secondary schools in Wandsworth, including Alderbrook Primary where I ran Adult Zumba for a year, and Sellincourt Primary, where I taught all the dance, to every year group YR!-YR6, every Friday, for three whole years! I want to continue to offer dance to all ages across the borough, and to continue to bring creative choreographies to life!
